Herbal Garden
The Herbal Garden of the National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) is a well-established living repository of medicinal plants, developed in accordance with NCISM norms, maintaining more than 250 plant species for teaching, research, and student demonstration. The garden hosts a diverse collection of herbs, shrubs, and medicinal trees, reflecting the rich pharmacognostic heritage of Unani Medicine. It also preserves several rare and endangered species, including valuable plants such as Sandal (Santalum album), making it an important centre for conservation and academic training. This well-curated botanical resource provides students and researchers with hands-on exposure to identification, cultivation, and therapeutic understanding of medicinal plants, thereby strengthening practical learning and supporting evidence-based Unani practice.
