National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Bangalore is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, working since 2004.
Government of India has set up a satellite Institute of NIUM at Ghaziabad which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 11.12.2022.
NIUM, Ghaziabad, has been established with a 200-bed hospital with a daily footfall of around 1400-1800 patients.
NIUM Ghaziabad reflects India’s National priority to strengthen the Ayush system and integrate them with contemporary healthcare. The institute envisages to:
• Expand high-quality postgraduate education and research in Unani Medicine
• Develop as a National knowledge hub for Unani medicine
• Offer global partners a model that blends clinical practice, research, and public health services under one roof

Prof. Saiyad Shah Alam's journey in Unani medicine is marked by purpose and passion. An alumnus of the distinguished Aligarh Muslim University, where he completed his BUMS and MS in Jarahat, he was shaped by an academic environment rooted in excellence, innovation, and integrity. This foundation laid the groundwork for a career committed to advancing Unani education, research, and surgical practice.
