Overview
National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Bangalore is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, working since 2004.
Government of India has set up a satellite Institute of NIUM at Ghaziabad which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 11.12.2022.
NIUM, Ghaziabad, has been established with a 200-bed hospital on the allotted land by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, measuring 10 acres of land, which was transferred to NIUM. The total cost of the project was Rs.381.42 crore. NIUM, Ghaziabad has a Hospital Block, Academic and Administrative Block, Girls Hostel, Boys Hostel (79 rooms each with double occupancy), auditorium (for 200 persons), residential quarters, Director’s bungalow, Guest House (18 suites). In the first phase, PG courses in 7 disciplines was started from 2024-25 with 7 PG scholars in each Department. In NIUM, Ghaziabad hospital, daily footfall of patients is around 1400-1800.
At present, seven (7) Departments of NIUM, Ghaziabad are functional – i.e., Departments of Moalajat, Ilmul Advia, Qabalat wa Amraze Niswan, Ilmul Saidla, Ilaj Bit Tadbeer, Ilmul Jarahat and Mahiyatul Amraze and 49 PG scholars (7 in each Department) are studying in NIUM, Ghaziabad for academic session 2024-25 and for academic session 2025-26, another batch of 49 students has been admitted. Thus, a total of 98 PG students are studying at NIUM, Ghaziabad as on now.
NIUM, Ghaziabad is having specialized OPDs – skin, nephrology, psychiatry, Hepatol biliary, chest clinic, community medicine & geriatrics, immunology, neurology clinic, sexual disorders, obesity & nutrition. Regimenal facilities, Lab facilities and OT facilities, X-ray, ECG, etc. are also available.
