Library

National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) Library was established with the objective to providing in depth literature on Unani system of medicine and allied sciences to faculties, PG scholars and researchers, so as to support them on academics and scientific competence. Presently the library possesses a collection of more than 13700 books comprising on Unani System of Medicine as well as on contemporary medical sciences like Allopathy, Ayurved, Yoga & Naturopathy, Siddha, and Homeopathy, besides a number of dictionaries and encyclopedias are also available. The books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Scheme. Notable strengths of library is its holding some of the Unani classical books, contemporary medical literature and 16 journals with 256 journals through HELINET Consortium (online format), and also globally accessing through broadband internet facility.

The library building is segmented into Textbooks, Reference, Circulation, Reading hall, Computer with Internet and Data entry sections. It is proposed to have further collection of Unani classics along with other important material necessary for academics and research, and expansion of library into Dissertation, Automation (Digitization), Audio-visual sections etc.
